Our History

Jackie&SonThe journey began in 2001 with an idea and a dream. It all kicked off when Chef Jackie graduated from Augusta Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts.  Adding to her Accounting Degree from Wilberforce University, it only seemed appropriate to utilize her accounting knowledge along with her cooking experience to open a Café and Catering establishment with her husband Clinton McCalla, Sr.

Cooking has been in Chef Jackie’s blood from an early age since cooking alongside her father who was a chef in the US Navy.  She in turn passed that experience onto her son Chef Clinton, Jr., who went on to graduate from the prestigious Culinary Arts Institute of Johnson and Wales University (the old Charleston, SC campus and the Providence, RI campus).  It was only natural that Chef Clinton, Jr. became part owner of the family owned business which changed its name to Jackie M’s and Son.

One of their greatest creations is their Award Winning Red Velvet Cheesecake, which was unheard of before then even after several years of exposure and with many versions, none like that of Jackie M’s and Son exist.  Nothing even close. They continue to create desserts (Key Lime Cheesecake and Sweet Potato Cheesecake) as well as their own Signature dish of egg rolls that are called Soul Rolls, consisting of melted cheese, Philly Steak seasoned to perfection, with a pinch of grilled sautéed onions wrapped in an all natural egg roll and deep fried to exquisiteness.
